Scenic Fall

Whether you're looking for the perfect backdrop for your next big adventure or wanting to tick a colourful autumn walk off your fall bucket list, the Municipality of Kincardine is the place to be. Here are some of our favourite spots to experience those scenic fall views.

St. Andrews Park

Make a point to stop into the endearing village of Tiverton. Pack your chess pieces, pick-up a coffee and head over to St. Andrews Park. Located at 60 Main Street in Tiverton, and with its own chess table, this is the perfect little spot to enjoy the leaves falling, a warm cup of coffee and a game of chess with a good friend. From there, be sure to walk the Tiverton’s Walk of Memories which can be accessed from parking at the Tiverton Sports Arena.

The Beach Boardwalk

You can find our expansive boardwalk skirting the beaches of Kincardine. The boardwalk is a great place to stroll along, with benches found along for opportune stops to take in the view.

You can pick-up some take-out from one of our local restaurants, park at the end of Durham Street, enjoy your dinner at the Dunsmoor Park Pavilion, then go for an after dinner stroll down the boardwalk to catch one of our serene sunsets!

Inverhuron Provincial Park

Stop into the Inverhuron Provincial Park at 19 Jordan Road in Tiverton for day-use of their gorgeous trails. They offer 4 trails, ranging in difficulty and in length from 0.5km -4km. They have both pedestrian and bike trails. Inverhuron Provincial Park is an excellent place for spotting wildlife and experiencing nature.

The River Trail is a favourite among locals, as it brings you along the winding Little Sauble River, where you can discover historic old mill sites, homesteads and some of the areas largest cedar trees.

Geddes Park

Looking for a quick stroll not far from our downtown core? Geddes Park may be the spot for you! Geddes Park is a favourite among locals. A quiet and peaceful space where you can be surrounded by nature and tranquility. Geddes Park is located at 568 Princes St. S. Kincardine.

The park connects to the red trail, which is a 6 kms, though there is opportunity to make that a shorter loop.  Early in the fall, our Labrinth Peace Garden is still in bloom. Be sure to also look out for the “Face Tree” on your stroll!

The Kincardine Historic Lighthouse

Our historic Kincardine Lighthouse stands tall next to our marina and downtown core. The lighthouse is located at 236 Harbour Street, Kincardine. It was originally built in 1880 and stands 74 feet above the two-storey traditional light keeper’s house.

Although, it is closed for tours during the fall season, it is a worthwhile stop and incredible photo backdrop. With Lake Huron next to it, the mature gardens and trees, its historic charm has certainly stood the test of time.

The Kincardine Blue Trail

If you’re looking to get out for that crunchy leaf fall adventure, this is your trail. We’d recommend parking at the Davidson Centre and entering the trail behind the playground. From there you can navigate the blue trail. You will find winding trails immersed in the forest, following along the Penetangore River. There is also a large wooden teepee waiting to be discovered. The trail is a lengthy 9 km for those looking for an adventure, though there are opportunities to make it into a much shorter loop.

Queen's Lookout

If you’re looking to take in that golden hour autumn sunset then this is the place. Queen’s lookout is nestled downtown at 700 Queen Street, Kincardine and provides quite the view! There are picnic tables throughout a grass park, with an encompassing view of the Penetangore River, Lake Huron, the Lighthouse and Marina.

*Pro-tip: Queen’s Lookout is in very close proximity to Dairy Queen. Stop in there after dinner, eat your ice cream with an incredible view, then take a stroll down the trail! It will bring you along the Penetangore River, down by the lighthouse and marina, and out to the North Pier. This is a short, paved trail- though there is a downwards hill coming from the lookout. You can follow the sidewalks to get back up… if you wish to not back up the hill.
